Electric Vehicle - The future opportunities and scopes

“Everything you can imagine is possible in this universe and the electric vehicle is the most popular example now a days.”

The world is changing, and the nature rules with the change. As the change is the need, human always found a revolutionary transformation in every century, if we go back into history. As the 19th century is well known for the biggest inventions of ‘Computer’ and ‘IC engine’, the 20th century that made the world to a drastic transformation with the invention of ‘Internet’, No matter if we say that the 21st century will be known for the ‘Electric Vehicles’. Yes, the time is right for electric vehicles. As we all know the need for electric vehicle has no option in today’s world. We need to protect our nature then only our nature will lead to protect us.

I want to draw you attention on some of the initiatives that has been taken by the Government of India. The India National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 (NEMMP 2020) of Gov. of India launched in 2012, this plan supports the EV market and development of manufacturing system. As a part of NEMMP Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) has launched a scheme namely FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid/Electric Vehicles). FAME focuses on the development of technology and R&D for development and manufacturing of EV system components in India.

These are the perfect policies and there are many more. The shifting mode of mobility could launch new employment opportunities. These would be in areas such as charging, swapping infrastructures, services or integrated transports. In India the energy players are now in the front row of this market as they must be ready with their charging infrastructure without that an electric vehicle will be a dream only. The manufacturing of EV components has given the automobile companies a new area that could result into more profit. The most important thing is that the oil is now replaced by electricity and batteries that results in huge employment in enhancing power generation and distribution, and how can we forget the battery manufacturing industries.

Imagine the future with all ruled by the energy players only. The concept of smart grid in smart cites that includes smart mobility too. You cannot deny, this century will be remembered for ‘Electric Vehicle’. In India the EV must be included in the curriculum so that we can prepare our generation for future employment that is the need for our industries. But wait, it is hardly found in UG courses in India. The EV can be found in PG and Ph.D. programs in many universities.

The Medi-Caps University, has launched the subject on ‘Electric Vehicle’ in the UG curriculum and it has been seen that ‘Electric Vehicle’ program is quite popular among students, as they want to learn the latest technology that would  help in future employment. I truly appreciate the initiative taken in the field of ‘Electric Vehicle’ by the Medi-Caps University.
